All of Buffalo!

Dear BOMA Members and Friends:

The American Heart Association is requesting BOMA's help to make Buffalo Go Red on Friday, February 1st. Please read below to learn about the different ways you can make your building/office red to show your support to raise awareness about heart disease in women.  If you would like to order elevator clings, banners, etc. please contact Jennifer Pratt at 716.614.1999 or [email protected].  If you plan to participate, please let us know by emailing [email protected].

For 10 years women have fought heart disease and helped save lives through the Go Red For Women campaign. But the fight is not over. An estimated 43 million women in the U.S.are still affected by heart disease. As we look toward the 10th Annual National Wear Red Day this February 1st , it’s more important than ever for women to stand side-by-side to end heart disease. Heart disease in women requires more attention, more research and swifter action.

  • Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, yet only one in five American women believe that heart disease is her greatest health threat.
  • Women comprise only 24 percent of participants in all heart-related studies.
  • Women are less likely to call 9-1-1 for themselves when experiencing symptoms of a heart attack than they are for someone else.

Wearing red isn’t just for people. It’s for buildings, bridges, and landmarks too. This year, you can help all America Go Red in a big way by thinking on a grand scale.

• Light up a park or a building landscape by wrapping trees in Red string lights.

• Use Red fountain or entry lighting.

• Outline the entire building or structure in Red or use Red floodlights to change the surface color.

• Wrap trees or the building with Red dresses or string a clothesline across the building wall

and use giant clothes pins to hang Red dresses.

• Use a Red dress logo on the side of the building.

• Hang huge Go Red For Women banners on the exterior walls of the building or structure.

• Spell out a message on fencing using Red cups or Red banners.

• Cover windows with Red gel paper, translucent Red film or Go Red For Women posters.

• Use Go Red For Women clings to cover elevator doors and interiors.

Thank you in advance for joining the fight against heart disease!  If you plan to participate, please email [email protected].

Sincerely,

Jennifer Aiple
