Buffalo RiverWorks and Buffalo River Fest Park

Construction is underway on the $15 million dollar Buffalo RiverWorks project. A partnership made up of Doug Swift, Earl Ketry, and John Williams is planning an entertainment complex for the Grange League Federation (GLF) elevator site at 327 Ganson Street. Among the interesting uses are two ice rinks, indoor and outdoor concert venues, restaurants, bars, public access to the Buffalo River, and eventually a hotel. The site hosted the Labatt’s Pond Hockey Tournament in February, and will be the new home for the Queen City Roller Girls in 2015. The Buffalo Curling Club will also hold some events at the location. Construction will continue throughout the summer and the goal is to fully open this fall. Approximately 200 people will be employed at the site. Peg Overdorf and other neighborhood stakeholders have been working with Swift’s group to create a vision for the Ganson Street area.

Margaret “Peg” Overdorf had a vision for a world-class destination on the Buffalo River, and her hard work and determination is making that vision a reality, with the Buffalo River Fest Park. The Buffalo River Fest Park’s beautiful landscaping, river access, and concert series have already drawn numerous visitors.
